Wasn't a 5 star place, but the staff at the surgical unit for eye surgery was great. Very professional and caring. The only reason for the 3 stars was the cleanness of the wating area floor and bathroom. The wheel beds were pretty dirty under them, so I blame the janitorial staff. Those things should be SPOTLESS, considering they take patients there after having surgeries. But that aside, great doctors and nurses.
I brought my mother to the ER and she was admitted to the Cupp Building third floor. When I arrived the next day, we were greeted by her case worker, who knew all about her case and was so pleasant that I immediately felt she was in good hands. Her nursing team was exceptional and they went above and beyond making sure my mother and I were comfortable and well taken care of. They even made sure we understood and were comfortable with changing her medication and its affordability. Her nurse practitioner explained her care plan in detail answering all questions precisely and making sure we understood every aspect. Everyone was so nice from the person who took my mother’s room service order, the environmental service rep, transporters, lab techs and even the staff I met in the cafeteria. Her night nurses were also phenomenal and greeted my mother with a fresh cup of water. I hope they know how much that small gesture (a simple cup of water) means, as I never had to ask.
As a Healthcare Administrator for New York City’s public health system, I know what it takes to provide exceptional care for the underserved and it was beyond fulfilling to be on the receiving end in my hometown. People don’t typically chose to be admitted to the hospital via the ER, but if you had to chose, Penn Presbyterian would be the best decision you could make. I gave 5 stars and would give more if I could.Came here heart issues. The staff and facility was great. The real reason for the 5 stars is the staff and team. The nurses, aids, doctors, surgeons, you name it were all just fantastic. Pit me at ease, kept me calm and positive throughout my experience there.
I was referred to Penn Presbyterian from an local urgent care center last week. After I arrived, I was quickly and efficiently moved through triage, and was escorted to the ER within 15 minutes of arriving. The team in the ER was incredibly attentive and helpful, and provided me with a lot of encouragement in an otherwise stressful time. After the team in the ER had made an intial diagnosis, they admitted me to the hospital to stay for a few nights.
To be clear, going to a hospital is never fun. It can be stressful, and it's a popular hospital so there are lots of things going on around you. That being said, the level of care I received from the team working with me was above and beyond what I could have expected. More specifically, my nurses Rebecca and Bruce, as well as Dr. Cato, Dr. Bhatia, and their teams were absolutely amazing. They were attentive, encouraging, friendly, and insightful. Despite being in a stressful situation, they made me feel as at-home as possible in my hospital room. They were able to accurate diagnose my issue, and resolve it quicker than I had originally anticipated.
I will reiterate that I dont like being in a hospital. But when push comes to shove, this is exactly the kind of place I would want to be if I needed urgent care. The level of care here is amazing. I HIGHLY recommend this hospital, as their staff will give you the best care possible.
This review is only based on the MCU( Medical Care Unit). Penn should be ashamed for putting their name on this building. Maybe invest in patient comfort and rooms instead of building a new parking garage. Don't believe all the photos online BEWARE they only show you the nice rooms. This is her room. It is literally the size of a closet. They gave me a metal folding chair to sit on. Dirty, isolating, no windows, and a paper thin metal wall system that are nothing but partitions. No patient bathrooms in the room. There is only a shared bathroom in the hall for all 10 to 14 patients. It's like a dungeon or basement. Disgusting that they think this is ok. Penn Main or Penn Princeton from now on.
